This beautiful taxidermy display dates back to the late 1800s/turn of the last century, and features four lovely Evening Grosbeaks (one female and three males). This case retains its original hand painted background and glass, as well as the original branches and a tiny nest. This piece has been painstakingly disassembled, cleaned of decades of dust and grim, and reassembled with new foliage and hardscape. Some specimens were missing eyes, so authentic antique glass eyes identical to the original ones were sourced from Germany. We also gave the case a fresh coat of glossy paint, which shows off the birds and the pretty background. This incredibly rare set is hard to find on this side of the Atlantic, and this is a lovely example of the Victorian art of taxidermy. 16.25W x 15D x 20.5H (22.75H at top of decorative frontispiece), $1495
