A pair of mating emerald green tiger beetles (Cicindelinae) that we spotted on the same decaying log along a pathway inside Venus Drive, Singapore. With bulging eyes and scary large mandibles, they look fierce little creatures of the forest that seem ready to jump at you and bite. But these are typically harmless predators. Though they seem to pounce on their preys like predacious tigers, hence their name. Tiger beetles are also known to be very agile and fast runners among insects.
