Atrial appendage closure device. These metallic clips (arrows) are used to close off the left atrial appendage in patients at risk of thrombus formation in the appendage – typically patients with atrial fibrillation, and particularly those who cannot be anticoagulated for whatever reason. Note also the sternotomy wires.
